Versace Mansion

  • The Miami mansion is where iconic fashion designer Gianni Versace was murdered – kind of creepy and macabre to be living there, wouldn’t you think? The Mediterranean-styled estate is located on Miami Beach’s prestigious Ocean Drive, as close to the sea possible, and was once considered the nation’s most expensive home.

The home is actually called Casa Casuarina and features 10 bedrooms and 11 baths, mosaic flooring and an array of frescoes and murals custom-made for Versace. Not really to my liking, but hey.. I didn’t juts buy it for $40 million! Two rooftop terraces boast spectacular views of the beach. There’s also an observatory – complete with bar – for an evening of star-gazing (of course, even if no-stars, the bar will compensate), an open-air courtyard, and a pool lined with 24 carat gold. OK, that’s officially kitsch!
If you’re still reading this, you’d be glad to know that the master suite – once occupied by Versace himself – contains a king-size bed, a huge bathroom, a walk-in closet and a small terrace overlooking the sea. Originally built in 1930 by architect Alden Freeman, the mansion went on sale more than a year ago for $125 million, but there were no takers – I wonder why.
